Strategic Plan

The Chemistry Department's strategic plan builds on its rich tradition of excellence in discovery, learning and engagement. The Chemistry Department is one of the largest and most productive chemistry departments in the country. The faculty has among its members several who are among the most cited chemists in the world.

Goals

DISCOVERY
Maintain our excellence and breadth in core areas of chemistry and strengthen our capacity to lead campus, state-wide and national interdisciplinary initiatives.

FACULTY AND STAFF
Recruit and retain a distinguished and diverse faculty and staff, increasing our strength in both core and interdisciplinary areas.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Provide enhanced physical facilities and an environment to accommodate a growing research enterprise.

LEARNING
Achieve national recognition as the best graduate experience in chemistry for our productive educational/working environment, the high quality of our education, and the access to innovative research areas.

Develop and be recognized for an undergraduate program that utilizes the strengths of a high quality research environment as well as successful and innovative methods and curricula in the classroom.

ENGAGEMENT
Increase awareness and strengthen the impact of the scientific, economic, and societal outcomes of the Department of Chemistry’s discoveries, innovations, and achievements.
