Chicago Area NMR Discussion Group

CANMRDG

February 25, 2021

Dear CANMRDG Member,

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot safely hold our annual Chicago Area NMR Discussion Group meeting in person this year. Therefore, like so many other meetings we had to choose between canceling and holding it online.  Most of us have not attended any meetings since March of 2020, and we feel the loss of not knowing what is happening in our community.  We have also been unable to learn about our suppliers’ progress in the past year. Therefore, we selected to hold an online meeting.

Details are still being discussed but the broad plan is that we will break the meeting into four sessions.  Each session will be presented by one our sponsors – Bruker, JEOL, Mestrelab, or Pfizer.  The sessions will be presented at the same time of day for four consecutive weeks.  Each session will be about 2 hours and consist of:

A presentation on a topic of the sponsors choosing
A presentation from an invited keynote speaker
Several presentations from local scientists and students

These short talks will be solicited from scientists, students, and postdocs in the traditional “Chicago Area”.  The sponsor would host their session online by whatever vehicle they select, and a member of the CANMRDG committee; Milo Westler, Catherine Eichorn, Josh Kurutz or Andrew Namanja will select the keynote speaker for their session and act as session chair. An effort will be made to group related talks to give each session a theme.

We are looking forward to an enjoyable meeting this year.  If you have any questions, please contact me at gjray55@uic.edu.
