Contact list and roster for Chem Dept Safety Committee

NOTE: This is not just about chemicals, but all aspects of safety in the Department. All groups -- research groups and other work groups (e.g., Prep Lab, Laser Facility, Copy Center, Business Office, Chem Shop....) -- will have at least one member (M) or liaison (L) on the Safety Committee. For "groups of one," e.g. a professor with no students, or the Nanotech Lab, or Laser Facility, that one person will be regarded as liaison. Members are expected to attend meetings or send a substitute. Members and liaisons will receive Safety Committee mailings and will be expected to act appropriately on them, and communicate information to the Committee when requested.

The supervisor is regarded as the liaison if no group member or liaison has been appointed. The supervisor may appoint a member or liaison at any time. Faculty members placed on the Committee by the Dept administration will serve such a term as the administration directs.

*Faculty Safety Committee Reps are appointed by the Head of the Department of Chemistry. Other Faculty member names appear as liaisons to this committee if they have not appointed a subordinate group member to the committee. Some faculty email addresses appear temporarily while the safety committee rep position in their group is temporarily vacant.

** Attendance at meetings is expected for the "Member" class of Safety Committee representatives, although this is most appropriately driven by the needs of the group and the expectations of the supervisor and Department.

Members are expected to attend meetings or to send a substitute. Liaisons are not expected at meetings but are welcome. Members and liaisons are expected to communicate all Safety Committee business to their research and workgroups (Faculty members to their respective Divisions). Notices will be sent if changes are made to the schedule.
