NRC = Nuclear Regulatory Commission

WHAT IS IT?  NRC is an independent regulatory agency created by the US Congress in 1974, via a "reorganization act" which consumed the old Atomic Energy Commission (created by the Atomic Energy Act of 1954).

NRC regulations are found in Title 10 of the CFR, and cover

  • commercial nuclear power reactors; nonpower research, test, and training reactors
  • fuel cycle facilities; medical, academic, and industrial uses of nuclear materials
  • the transport, storage, and disposal of nuclear materials and waste

PS do not say nu-kya-ler unless you don't care that you sound like an idiot.
