Prior Approval

OSHA (in the Lab Standard) requires that the Chemical Hygiene Plan include "the circumstances under which a particular laboratory operation, procedure or activity shall require prior approval from the employer or the employer's designee before implementation."

Your department or your work group supervisor must

  1. Determine what activities/procedures/operations will require prior approval, and
  2. Determine who will give approval and how, and
  3. Write these provisions into the appropriate Appendix of the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
