Designated Areas

Another OSHA Lab Standard requirement is that an area or areas be designated for work with "'select carcinogens,' reproductive toxins or substances which have a high degree of acute toxicity."

The list is somewhat absurdly long and never stops growing.  Last update April 1999 Word version of it.

This is the sticker Purdue uses to designate such areas.  If you possess any of the materials in the list, designate an area.  Designate hoods, cabinets, benches, refrigerators....  You may designate an entire room by posting the entry doors, but if you do there may be absolutely no eating or drinking in the room.   Ever.
