The Lab Standard requires that your employer provide Information and Training to ensure that you are apprised of the hazards of chemicals present in your work area.  "Such information shall be provided at the time of an employee's initial assignment to a work area where hazardous chemicals are present and prior to assignments involving new exposure situations.  The frequency of refresher information and training shall be determined by the employer."  Every five years is Purdue's rule.

It is required that you be informed of:

  • The contents of 29 CFR 1910.1450 Location and availability of CHP Location and availability of Safety Information Signs and Symptoms of Exposure to your hazardous chemicals
  • Exposure Limits (PELs) of your hazardous chemicals
