The first two of the four "required training" points:
- Methods of detection of a spill or
release of your workplace chemicals
|
Most
chemicals are detected by odor or visual observation, but it is necessary for you to know
if chemicals in your workplace have other warning properties of which you must be aware,
and if other detection methods are necessary and/or are in place (electronic monitors,
passive dosimeters...) Recent MSDSs by many manufacturers include this information
for many chemicals. If more training is necessary, inform your supervisor or REM.
|
- Physical and Health Hazards of
your workplace chemicals
|
These are usually most easily learned from a current MSDS, and it may be possible to
train yourself about the physical and health hazards. If not, ask for training from
your department or from REM.
