Hazard Communication - Chemical Safety

red button with arrow - to online HazCom training program

"HazCom" Training is required by the
OSHA regulation called 29 CFR 1910.1200

Take both seriously:

safety

compliance

         aka
HazCom

         aka The Hazard Communication Standard

         aka The Employee Right-To-Know Law

         aka RTK

The requirements of the HazCom Standard apply mostly to staff in non-lab work areas.

Even if you have no chemicals in your immediate work area, the information in the tutorial (red button above) is intended to acquaint you with the requirements and considerations pertaining to the work areas surrounding you.

This training is for people who either
-- do not use chemicals, or
-- use chemicals, but are not engaged in "laboratory use."

It is also assigned to many new grad students as their immediate entry-level safety training in August/Sept.

If you are engaged in laboratory use of chemicals (and not a new grad student in Aug/Sep) you should leave this page and complete CHP (Chemical Hygiene Plan) training.
