Chemistry 12500 Bulletin Board

The Chemistry 12500 Bulletin Board is in the hallway outside BRWN 2144. Cribs for most exams will be posted here.

Graduate Instructor (TA) Office Hours

Each Chemistry 12500 Graduate Instructor (TA) will hold a one-hour office hour each week in WTHR 116-C (adjacent to the Resource Room) where any Chemistry 12500 student can go to get help with chemistry from any Chemistry 12500 TA at no charge. Your TA is the person who has the closest contact with you in this very large course. The TAs in the Department of Chemistry are not just "a bunch of grad students." They are graduate students, all of whom have been through a training program in teaching and tutoring skills and some of them have several years’ experience in teaching. If you are having a problem with some aspect(s) of the course, go first to your TA. He/she wants to help you and is available for consultation both at specific hours and by appointment. However, he/she is not going to "spoon-feed" chemistry to you. Feel free to go to the office hours with a classmate or small group if you feel uncomfortable going alone.

Course Supervisor

The Course Supervisor is available to help with homework and questions about the lab as well as to handle policy problems in the course. The Course Supervisor can usually be found in the General Chemistry Office (BRWN 1144) when labs are in session.

Dr. Nash

Instead of holding formal office hours, Dr. Nash prefers to meet with you whenever a question or problem arises. Just stop by!! To ensure that he will be in his office, it is best to make an appointment. Feel free to call or send e-mail.

Resource Room

The staff in this area can answer many of your chemistry related questions but going to a Chemistry 12500 TA with your chemistry questions is recommended. The Chemistry Resource Room is also an area where you can study alone or with others. Various kinds of help for all chemistry students are available. The resources include:

bulletFree help and tutoring from the staff assigned to this area
bulletNumerous audio-visual, auto-tutorial programs on chemistry
bulletMolecular and crystal models
bulletComputers with a variety of chemical, tutorial topics

A student ID card is required to check out most of the materials in the Chemistry Resource Room. Days and times when the Chemistry Resource Room is scheduled to be open will be posted outside WTHR 117.
