What to Expect for Most Lab Sessions

Prior to the Lab Session...

bulletRead the experiment in your lab manual.
bulletPrepare the Pre-Lab Report in your lab notebook. You will turn in a carbon copy of your Pre-Lab Report during the first 10 minutes of the lab session.

At the Beginning of the Lab Session...

bulletSubmit (during the first 10 minutes of the lab session) your Formal (Final) Report for the previous experiment (if required).
bulletSubmit (during the first 10 minutes of the lab session) a carbon copy of your Pre-Lab Report.
bulletListen to the pre-lab lecture given by your Graduate Instructor. He/she will describe any procedural changes to the experiment, as well as issues related to safety and waste disposal. Do not open your lab drawer, or begin taking out equipment, until your Graduate Instructor has finished the pre-lab lecture.

During the Lab Session...

bulletComplete the experiment.
bulletRecord all data and observations in your lab notebook while you are performing the experiment.
bulletPrepare and submit your Lab Project Summary before you leave the lab (if required).
bulletSubmit carbon copies of the pages from your lab notebook on which you recorded data, calculations, observations, etc. during the lab session to your Graduate Instructor before you leave the lab. This is your "In-Lab Report".

After the Lab Session...

bulletPrepare your Formal (Final) Report (if required). This is due during the first 10 minutes of the lab session in the week immediately following the one in which you performed the experiment (unless otherwise stated).
