Workshop Videos for General Chemistry

back
Description

In order to address the background deficiencies of the nontraditional student population at CU-Denver, six videos were filmed which teach students basic topics they need to know as pre-requisites for General Chemistry. The videos cover scientific notation, significant figures, dimensional analysis, mass-mole conversions, logarithms and graph interpretation. The videos are made available to students through the library. An accompanying handout allows students to solve practice problems given in the videos. The use and effectiveness of the videos was assessed and compared with other methods of addressing student background deficiencies.
