Mar. 2003 – Jul. 2004        Researcher; Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), Korea

Research Experiences

1. Jan. 2001 – Feb. 2003; Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, Seoul National University , Korea

Regulation of gene expressions in the hepatocytes infected by human hepatitis B virus (HBV).

Differential gene expressions in HBV-infected human primary hepatocytes & human hepatoma cell lines were examined by cDNA microarray technology, and their roles relating to hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) were investigated.

2. Mar. 2003 – Jul. 2004; Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), Korea

Roles of SIRT1 relating to human cancers

Protein-protein interaction between SIRT1 and cellular proteins were examined by yeast two hybrid experiments. Gene regulation by SIRT1 and its roles relating to cancer development were investigated.

3. Aug. 2004 – Present; Purdue University , USA

1) Immunotherapy of human autoimmune diseases

Imaging of pathogenic lymphocytes in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) & multiple sclerosis

(MS) in animal models, and immunotherapy of RA & MS were investigated using animal models.

2) Development of highly specific & non-cross reactive monoclonal antibodies against human folate receptor beta (hFR-β)

Developing monoclonal antibodies against human folate receptor beta (hFR-β) by three strategies; 1) unique hFR-β peptides, 2) pre-B cell lines expressing hFR-β, & 3) intact hFR-β purified by baculovirus expression system

Honors & Awards

1. Prize for the research poster by Korean Society of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at fall 2001. The title of poster is “Gene expression analysis of human normal primary hepatocytes induced by human heptitis B virus.”
