Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of material can I borrow from the CRR?
We have old exams, class notes, the book/solution manual, splash goggles, model kits, and other reference materials which can be checked out using your Purdue ID card.
Will the tutors give me the answers?
No! Our job is to help you understand the concepts which you are learning in class and provide additional explinations from a student perspective. We can help you with your homework but only if you make an honest attempt at learning the material. In order to get the most out of your visit to the CRR, please try the homework on your own first and then bring specific questions to desk in case it is a busy day.
Where is the nearest copy machine?
Upstairs on the 3rd floor in the Mellon Library of Chemistry. Ask the librarian for help setting up your copy account for the first time.
Do these computers print?
The only computers connected to the IT@P system are the two in the back corner of the middle room. All of the other computers cannot print, run IT@P software, or save to your network drive, but you are free to use them to work on online homework. The IT@P computers print to the computer lab down the hall (WTHR 114).
Can I get a private tutor?
Yes you can. Please inquire with individual tutors, the General Chemistry Office, or the Organic Chemistry office.
Are the tutors TAs?
No, we are all upperclassmen undergraduate students studying some form of chemistry. Therefore we cannot change your grade nor will be able to answer administrative questions regarding your class. TAs for many classes hold office hours down the hall from the CRR.
What's the deal with the general chemistry exams for sale?
They are provided as a fundraiser by Alpha Chi Sigma and are not affiliated with the CRR staff who are not liable for any mistakes in the practice exams.
