Mussels produce adhesives by metal-induced protein cross-linking. My research efforts focus on the development of synthetic mimics of this biomaterial. Cross-linking reactions of these new polymers will provide a new group of bioinspired materials providing more diversity and functionality to applications such as nonfouling surfaces, tissue engineering and surgical adhesives.
