Alli is a second-year graduate student working under Dr. Herman Sintim at Purdue University. Alli’s research focuses on the utilization of a facile three-component reaction for the synthesis of small molecule disease-driven kinase inhibitors. Her research includes the discovery, characterization, and biological evaluation of these kinase inhibitors, which allows her to employ spectroscopy techniques, such as IR and NMR, and various cell-based assays. Alli comes from Green Bay, WI where she entered her undergraduate studies studying chemistry and mathematics at St. Norbert College. While at St. Norbert, she worked under Dr. Jonathon Russel where her project focused on the development of methods for the selective functionalization of indole alkaloids. In 2019, Alli was awarded the Ross Fellowship, a highly competitive and prestigious fellowship awarded to first-year graduate students at Purdue University. Alli’s experience in organic synthesis combined with new knowledge and applications in biochemistry allow her to bring a unique perspective to both her research and the Graduate Student Symposium Planning Committee. Outside of chemistry, Alli enjoys cooking, tap dancing, and being outdoors.
