Jean Chmielewski

Professor Jean Chmielewski is one of three Robert Breslow Memorial Talk speakers for our symposium.

Dr. Jean Chmielewski is the Alice Watson Kramer Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University. Dr. Jean Chmielewski received her Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s University. Jean went on to receive her Ph.D. from Columbia University, where she worked under the late Ronald Breslow. She was also an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Rockefeller University and the University of California, Berkeley. Following her postdoctoral research, Jean served as an Assistant Professor at Purdue University, and in 2005 she became a Distinguished Professor. In addition, she was named Outstanding Teacher in the College of Science from 2006-2008. Dr. Chemieleski's research focuses on the development of small molecules, peptides, and peptidomimetics for applications in drug discovery, bionanotechnology, and cellular delivery of therapeutic agents. On top of being a great professor and mentor, Jean was recently awarded the 2021 Murray Goodman Award for outstanding contributions to peptide chemistry.
