E-2020 is a science enhancement program for middle school and high school teachers intended to promote increased use of inquiry-based instruction. The program allows teachers to be involved in scientific research projects during the summer and assists them in creating long-term, inquiry-based projects for their students to carry out during the school year. E-2020 began in July 1996 with internal funding from the University of Colorado at Denver. The program is now funded by the NSF and provides research experience to 22 teachers each summer at 10 to 20 different locations throughout the Colorado Front Range. Work during the year is shared among the teachers via the internet and the Web. The program culminates with a student symposium held at CU-Denver in May of each year.
