Physical Chemistry in Practice DVD

back
Description

A digital video-disk (DVD) is being created to serve as a companion to Physical Chemistry courses with the goal of helping students understand the real-world applications of the abstract theory that they learn in the class. The DVD will bring cutting-edge Physical Chemistry to the student in a way that is not feasible through most undergraduate experiences. The disk will include several modules, each of which is based on actual research-level experiments being carried out by scientists nationwide and which relates to some fundamental topic in Physical Chemistry. Each module will contain digital video footage of interviews with the scientists and of the experimental procedures and equipment. The DVD, which will be a video/computer hybrid, will also contain computer animations and simulations of each experiment, interactive problems based on the experiment, and sample data for students to analyze.
