Education:
Ph.D student in
analytical chemistry, emphasizing mass spectrometry under the direction of
Prof. Scott A. McLuckey. B.S. in chemistry and criminal justice
Research and Teaching:
Fall 2007 Chemistry 115 Spring 2008 Chemistry 111 Undergraduate
Research Experience: Fall 2005- Spring 2007 - Synthesized the marine natural product Rigidin, and key functionalized pyrrole intermediates of other bioactive marine natural products utilizing vinylogous iminium salts. Began the final synthesis of Rigidins B, C, and D and helped with the synthesis of Ningalin A. - Utilized proton and carbon NMR, GC/DI-MS, and IR for structure determination, as well as automated flash chromatography for product purification and a microwave reactor for certain reactions
Academic & Professional Awards and Honors: American
Institute of Chemists Award
2007 Academic
Achievement Award
2007 Dean's List
2007 Arts and Science Summer Fellowship for Undergraduate
