Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907    2002-present
Ph.D student. in analytical chemistry, emphasizing mass spectrometry under the direction of Prof. Scott A. McLuckey.

University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY 1995-1999
B.S. in chemistry.

Research and Teaching:

Purdue University, Department of Chemistry
Teaching Assistant
8/2002-12/2002 Chemistry 115: General chemistry for engineering majors
8/2003-12/2003 Chemistry 424: Advanced Analytical Chemistry focusing on instrumentation

Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, Idaho Falls, ID
Associate Scientist: 10/1999 - 07/2002
Used novel Ion Trap Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (IT-SIMS), Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer, and Charles Evans TRIFT Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer (TOF-SIMS) for analytical analysis on a variety of solid samples. Two main research topics included study of gas-phase aluminosilicate ion-molecule reaction kinetics with neutral gases, and the investigation of differences between surface Cs adsorption and bulk Cs adsorption to soils.

University of Wyoming Department of Chemistry, Laramie, Wyoming
Research Assistant: 01/1998 - 05/1999  Dr. Dean M. Roddick (advisor)
Synthesized nickel (0) and palladium complexes with the chelating perfluorinated phosphine ligand (C2F5)2PCH2CH2P(C2F5)2 ("dfepe"), and characterized these compounds using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy, IR Spectroscopy, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, and High Vacuum Line Techniques.

University of Wyoming Department of Chemistry, Laramie, Wyoming
Teaching Assistant - Chemistry: 08/1998 - 05/1999
Taught concepts and supervised laboratory sessions for general chemistry students.
