Dept of Chem and many others who WORK REGULARLY in BRWN OR WTHR USE THIS SCHEME.

EVERYONE (e.g. grad students, postdocs, regular or visiting faculty, undergrad researchers (paid or not), technicians, A/P staff....) who is or will be engaged in laboratory use of chemicals, AND those who supervise them, must have CHP training.  Requires 5 year refresher training unless your department requires it more frequently.  PPE training is closely associated.  Below are the REM-provided options for satisfying parts of these requirements.

(1) Complete online independent study in TWO parts;
    (a) "CHP1" -- a fairly in-depth overview of the Chemical Hygiene Plan, AND
    (b)
"PPE" --  Personal Protective Equipment training,

Start at either (1)(a) or (1)(b), this order does not matter.  Each requires submission of a web form at its end, and printing of a confirmation page, and each allows you to continue to the other if necessary.

HOWEVER You must do (1) before you sign up for (2).  If you do not recall when you completed (1)(a) and (b), run through them again.  It's always a good review.

(2)

Sign up for the 110-minute ("CHP2") live training session

The sign-up form will ask you to indicate the date(s) you completed 1(a) and 1(b).  If you do not recall, have no record, or it's been >several months, run through them again.  It's always a good review.

The completeness of your training, and the disposition of the training records produced by these online and/or live training activities, are the business or your department, division, supervisor.... i.e. whoever is making the rules about your safety training and safety training records.  Not REM.  REM  advises on minimum requirements and offers some help satisfying them.

These two documents below are (or are similar to) the materials which will be distributed and discussed in the 110-minute live training session.
