REFRESHER TRAINING REQUIREMENTS for CHP, HCP, and PPE training

(These are specific to the Department of Chemistry but based on University, State, and Federal rules.)

CHP: If you are engaged in, or supervise, "laboratory use of chemicals" then you must complete refresher CHP (Chemical Hygiene Plan) training every five years. You may do this by completing the online CHP training exercise and submitting the form at its end.  Live-and-in-person training is available but not required unless the supervisor requires it.  (If you teach a lab, that does not ordinarily constitute "laboratory use of chemicals."  What the students are doing may or may not be regarded as laboratory use, but the instructor's activity is usually not.)

HCP: Everyone else (in Chemistry, only exceptions are emeritus faculty) must undertake the HazCom refresher (also known as HCP, Hazard Communication Program) ANNUALLY. You may do this by completing theonline HazCom training exercise and submitting the form at its end.  Live-and-in-person training is available but not required unless the supervisor requires it.

PPE: (Personal Protective Equipment) training (for anyone using or owning PPE) training need not be refreshed except as required by the supervisor or other dept administration official.  PPE training must be updated whenever new work activities result in adding new PPE requirements.
