Required of students majoring in science and students in engineering who are not in CHM 12300. One year of high school chemistry or one semester of college chemistry required. Principles of chemistry including stoichiometry; atomic structure and chemical bonding; properties of gases, liquids, and solids; thermochemistry; descriptive inorganic chemistry. Recommended for entering students intending to major in chemistry. One year of high school chemistry or one semester of college chemistry required. Typically offered Fall.

CHM 12600: Credit Hours: 5.00. A continuation of CHM 12500. Properties of solutions; chemical equilibrium calculations; elementary thermodynamics; oxidation-reduction reactions and electrochemical cells; rates of reaction; qualitative analysis; descriptive chemistry. Typically offered Spring.
