Research Focus
Our research focuses on creating a Next Generation Digital Learning Environment for Chemistry (NGDLEC).
Projects Include:
-
Using Microsoft OneNote to implement a fully digital lecture and laboratory experience, including real-time digital lecture notes, an electronic homework notebook, an electronic laboratory notebook, and online grading.
-
Developing laboratory experiments which interface directly to Electronic Laboratory Notebooks using Vernier Inc. probeware, iPads, and Apple Pencils.
- Developing new, web-based simulations of general chemistry laboratory experiments.
Implemented Projects at Purdue:
- “Copper (II) chloride dihydrate” A complete virtual lab to determine molecular formula. (2024)
- “Beer’s Law Lab” A Lab-Realistic Simulation. (2023)
- "Fluoresence Quenching" A General Chemistry Teaching Experiment. (2022)
-
"How Much Iron is in My Cereal?” A General Chemistry teaching laboratory experiment. (2021)
-
“Coffee-Cup Calorimetry Simulation” A simulation used by General Chemistry Laboratory Students. (2021)
-
"Metal Ion Sensor" A revised Cu ion sensor experiment that eliminates hazardous waste from the previous silver ion sensor experiment. (2021)
-
We created an Apple Pencil charger in conjunction with the Purdue Amy Facility. Read about our project here.(2021)
- Snorkel Instructional Video - created by Anjali Pursai to teach students how to use the Nederman Bench Top Extraction Arms in the new chemistry labs in Chaney Hale Hall. (2021)
- "Thin Layer Chromatography Simulation" A Simulation used by General Chemistry Students. (2021)
