Copies of Old Exams Are Available at the Chemistry Resource Room or WebCT Courses

BE WARNED!!  If you choose to use previous exams as your only study material for exams this semester, you are putting your success in jeopardy because:
  • The textbook has changed and the order of topics has changed.  Exam II, for example, will likely cover different topics than Exam II in some previous semesters.
  • Exams cover only a sampling of the information and knowledge studied.  Therefore, any one exam is not a comprehensive accumulation of knowledge you are expected to know for a given topic.
  • Some signs and symbols may be missing from copies of old exams printed from the web site.  When the word processing program is translated to html, the negative signs, degree signs,  deltas, and arrows (among other things) are lost.
  • Any errors or omissions made on old exams probably have NOT been corrected.

Attendance is required for the scheduled exam times. You will NOT be able to make-up an exam that you miss.  If you miss an exam  follow the procedures for reporting absences

Arrive at the exam with

  • your specific seat assignment (level, aisle, row and seat number)  [if applicable]
  • #2 lead pencil(s)
  • an operational calculator with exponential, logarithm, and square root functions (preferably a simple scientific calculator so you do not run the risk of getting the games you have in your calculator memory wiped out when you are required to erase the memory); make sure the calculator works without an adapter

Doors will usually be opened for students about 20 minutes before the start of the exam.

Students will not be allowed to leave the examination area during the first 15 minutes of the scheduled exam period.  Students may arrive late for the exam in this 15-minute window.  After the first 15 minutes, no one will be allowed to enter the examination area.

If a student arrives late for an exam (within the 15-minute window), the student will not receive additional time to complete the exam and scan sheet.

Students will be allowed to take exam booklets with them when they leave the exam.  However, students will need to make sure that the graduate instructor has his/her completed scan sheet because that is what will be graded.

Answers to exam questions will be posted at this site but probably not before noon the day following the exam.
