Opportunities

Postdocs

The qualified candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Neurobiology any other closely related interdisciplinary research areas. Please contact Prof. Tian by email (sltian@purdue.edu) with a cover letter describing research backgrounds and interests, a CV with a full list of publications and contact information of three references in PDF files. Prospective postdocs are highly encouraged to apply for postdoctoral fellowship support.

Graduate students

Graduate students in the Tian Lab will learn wet lab chemistry (molecular biology, chemical synthesis, and metalloprotein design), spectroscopy (steady state and time-resolved optical techniques along with Mössbauer, EPR and MCD spectroscopy), DFT calculation and MD simulation. After graduation, students are expected to achieve multiple skill sets and a strong publication record, making them ready for future careers in either academia or industry. Graduate students interested in working in my lab should send me an email (sltian@purdue.edu) containing a brief statement of interests, CV, and summary of previous research experience. Prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply for predoctoral fellowships.

Information on applying to the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University can be found here.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students assist with ongoing projects or work on independent research. Undergraduate students interested in working in my lab should send me an email (sltian@purdue.edu) containing a brief statement of interests, a resume, and, if applicable, a summary of previous research experience. Juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in the Purdue Summer Stays Program and the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP).
