Opportunities

Postdocs

The Tian Lab is seeking two motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our team. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. Our lab focuses on the characterization of metalloproteins involved in human iron homeostasis using advanced spectroscopic methods and cryoEM. We also engage in metalloprotein engineering using computational tools. Join us to explore cutting-edge research and contribute to significant scientific discoveries. Interested candidates should send their CV, a cover letter, and contact information for three references to sltian@purdue.edu.

Graduate students

Graduate students in the Tian Lab will learn wet lab chemistry (molecular biology, chemical synthesis, and metalloprotein design), spectroscopy (steady state and time-resolved optical techniques along with Mössbauer, EPR and MCD spectroscopy), DFT calculation and MD simulation. After graduation, students are expected to achieve multiple skill sets and a strong publication record, making them ready for future careers in either academia or industry. Graduate students interested in working in my lab should send me an email (sltian@purdue.edu) containing a brief statement of interests, CV, and summary of previous research experience. Prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply for predoctoral fellowships.

Information on applying to the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University can be found here.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students assist with ongoing projects or work on independent research. Undergraduate students interested in working in my lab should send me an email (sltian@purdue.edu) containing a brief statement of interests, a resume, and, if applicable, a summary of previous research experience. Juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate in the Purdue Summer Stays Program and the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP).
