Add/Drop Policies for General Chemistry Courses

(CHM 11100, 11200, 11510, 11520, 11530, 11610, 11620, 11630, 12500, 12600, 12901, 13600)

Adding a class:

  • To enroll in a lab class (e.g., CHM 11520), students must be concurrently registered for the corresponding lecture (CHM 11510) or have already completed the lecture.
  • Students can take the lecture (CHM 11510) without the lab (CHM 11520 or 11530).
  • Additional information about adding classes during Weeks 1-3 and switching sections will be added in January.

Dropping a Class:

  • Students who drop a lecture class (CHM 11510) at any point in the semester are required to also drop the lab (CHM 11520 or 11530) if they do not have prior credit for the lecture (CHM 11510).
  • Students can remain in the lecture (CHM 11510) if they drop the lab (CHM 11520/11530).
  • For CHM 12901 students, if they drop their corequisite Math class, they also have to drop CHM 12901 if they do so before the end of Week 12. After the end of Week 12 students can drop Math and stay in CHM 12901.
