Dr. and Mrs. Negishi safe in Japan following earthquake

Nobel laureate Ei-ichi Negishi and his wife Sumire are safe in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami.
Both were south of Toyko when the quake occured. They are staying with relatives in the region.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan in the wake of this terrible tragedy," said Purdue President France Córdova. "We will continue to watch and offer support throughout the recovery and rebuilding efforts."
"Purdue's ties to Japan are numerous. It is the home of Purdue chemistry professor and Nobel Laureate Ei-ichi Negishi and his wife, Sumire, as well as many other faculty, students, alumni and friends," she said.
