Purdue Chemistry and EAPS Outreach sponsored two student groups from Lafayette Jefferson High School at the recent 2019 GLOBE Midwest Student Research Symposium held at the University of Northern Iowa.
The group from Jefferson High School that presented “Effect of Road Salt on Local Water Quality” was recognized in the Community Impact and Engagement category and was selected as a Peer Choice Poster.
The other Jeff group presented “Determining the Ideal Location for a Campus Garden.”
“We are very excited to have helped some local students get involved with research in their high school classroom, and are looking forward to more opportunities for students to get involved during the 2019-2020 school year,” said Sarah Nern, K-12 Chemistry Outreach coordinator.
The trip was also funded with a Halliburton grant.
