Julia Laskin, William F. and Patty J. Miller Professor in the James Tarpo Jr. and Margaret Tarpo Department of Chemistry, is the recipient of the 2025 American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Analytical Chemistry Award in Chemical Instrumentation.
The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of chemical instrumentation through innovation, application, and dissemination of new techniques and technologies.
Laskin’s research focuses on the development of novel mass spectrometry instrumentation for designing functional interfaces using beams of mass-selected ions and spatial mapping of molecules in complex biological and environmental systems.
Analytical chemistry has long been a strength at Purdue, with a 60-year tradition of pioneering new instrumentation for chemical measurements.
Laskin joins a distinguished group of Purdue faculty, former faculty, and alumni who have previously received the ASC Chemical Instrumentation Award, including:
Vicki Wysocki (2022)
Scott McLuckey (2007)
Joel Harris (1991)
Fred E. Lytle (1986)
R. Graham Cooks (1984)
Harry L. Pardue (1982)
Jon Amy (1981)
Fred W. McLafferty (1971)
Laskin will receive the award at the Fall ACS meeting in Washinton D.C.
