Rudolph Autopol III S2 Polarimeter

Download the user guide here

The polarimeter measures the optical activity of inorganic and organic compounds. Plane-polarized light is passed through a solution containing the compound of interest and the rotation of the light is measured. The degree of rotation is dependent on the structure and concentration of chiral molecules in solution.

  • Optical Rotation, Specific Rotation, °Z Scale
  • Resolution: 0.001° Arc Optical Rotation, 0.01 Specific Rotation
  • Range: ±89° Arc Optical Rotation, ±999.99 Specific Rotation
  • Tungsten-halogen lamp: 589 nm (sodium) and 546 nm (mercury) wavelengths
  • Accepts standard polarimeter tubes up to 20 cm in length
