Ei-ichi Negishi was a researcher at Purdue University for more than forty years. In December 2010, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing metal-based reactions called palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling, that allow for easy and efficient synthesis of complex organic compounds. Dr. Negishi retired from Purdue in 2019.
