Delaney

Delaney
Major: Biochemistry ACS
Minor: German
After Purdue: U.S. Government R&D
“Purdue is the only place I know of that will allow a freshman chemistry student to step foot in a graduate-level research lab on day one. For me it was Dr. Chmielewski's lab. It's why I chose Purdue, and it's why I encourage others to come here.”

Hannah

Hannah
Major: Chemistry
Minor: Political Science
After Purdue: Law School, Michigan State University College of Law
“My time as an intern at the Office of Technology Commercialization at Purdue Research Foundation has allowed me to work on a variety of intellectual property projects from life sciences to physical sciences including genetics in honeybees, 3D cardiac contouring technologies, inhalable glucagon, and perovskite solar cell materials. I have seen how these scientific innovations enhance the lives of others.”

Hanning

Hanning
Major: Chemistry ACS
Minor: Math
After Purdue: PhD Organic Polymer Chemistry, Cornell University
“I am grateful I was able to work in both the Kenttämaa and Mei labs while at Purdue. All the graduate students that I worked with are super talented and easy-going, which really build a positive environment for me to learn more about chemistry. The two professors have been influential to me -- shaping who I am today.”

Ian

Ian
Major: Chemistry
Minor: EAPS, Spanish
After Purdue: MS Biogeochemistry, Purdue Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences
“Purdue is a springboard for achieving your dreams. It offers opportunities that make your work all the more worth it. From undergraduate research to intriguing classes, I can say that I am glad that I chose Purdue.”

Jocelyn

Jocelyn
Major: Chemistry ACS
Minor: German
After Purdue: PhD Analytical Chemistry, Ohio State University
“I love to tell people that Purdue is a big school and has amazing resources, connections, and opportunities, but is easy to make it feel like a small college. I am lucky that I studied abroad in Germany, was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma, participated in Iota Sigma Pi's outreach programs for National Chemistry Week, and worked all four years in Dr. Michalski's research group.”

Justin

Justin Shing Him
Major: Chemistry ACS
After Purdue: Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong
“My experience working in Dr. Corey Thompson’s lab has been extremely rewarding and has helped me develop professionally as well as personally. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities provided to me by the Chemistry Department, and I am very happy that I chose to attend Purdue.”

Lane

Lane
Major: Chemistry ACS, French
Minor: Dance
After Purdue: PhD Physical Chemistry, University of Colorado Boulder
“Working in Dr. Hood’s lab as a research assistant allowed me to help build a research lab from the ground up which is particularly helpful as I hope to be a professor with my own lab someday! I am also grateful that Purdue offers such a well-rounded education focusing not only on science but also on culture. I added a second major in French language and culture as well as studied abroad in Iceland.”

Mariah

Mariah
Major: Chemistry
Minor: Biological Sciences
After Purdue: Drug discovery research
“I enjoyed working in Dr. Garth Simpson’s lab and participating in the 2019 Science and Social Progress study abroad program in Colombia. Purdue is full of opportunities. There is involvement available for anyone who seeks it, whether it be within your concentration or as an extracurricular.”

Mattie

Mattie
Major: Biochemistry
After Purdue: PhD Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
“One of the most rewarding experiences I had through the College of Science was serving as a student ambassador. I was able to meet with prospective students and share my passion not only for an education in science but an education at Purdue University -- and what makes it so special.”

Noah

Noah
Major: Biochemistry
After Purdue: Medical School, Indiana University School of Medicine
“A rewarding experience I had while at Purdue was working in the Simpson research group. The lab not only allowed me to get experience in chemical research, but the group was also extremely welcoming and social. Purdue offers everything for you to find your niche.”

Sara

Sara
Major: Biochemistry ACS
After Purdue: PhD Organic Chemistry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
“I had a wide variety of experiences while at Purdue, including undergrad research in Professor Mingji Dai's lab and EAPS Professor Tim Filley's lab. I did an eight-week study abroad in Germany and an internship at Corteva Agriscience in Indianapolis. Also, I learned a lot as a Resident Assistant. Purdue has been a great place to call home for the last four years.”
